Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors report that a ex- physician has been charged with committing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
