Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.

Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the United States has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
