The Red Devils Poised to Secure Germany Forward Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants

Manchester United are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.

A Marquee Acquisition for United

The forward, with six months left on her deal, has been a prolific goal-getter for her club and the national team. She has netted over 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. Her arrival is viewed as a major signing for the Women’s Super League team.

Departure from Bayern was expected after she appeared to be holding back emotions while applauding the German club’s fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.

It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its top forwards. According to reports, the formalities for the move are now finalised.

Consistent Goal Threat to Boost the Attack

The 28-year-old’s signing should represent a major uplift to the team's forward line. Schüller has been highly reliable with her finishing in the Bundesliga.

• For seven consecutive seasons, including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
• She claimed the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when the club appear to be building positive momentum.

2. The contract extension for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since joining in 2023.

On Miyazawa’s extension, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability enables her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”

The new defender, having arrived from a side from the American league, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
