Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates features live text for the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available on select stations covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six of the football calendar and after last week's talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each lost their perfect starts.
Notable during those contests were the number of penalties both committed. Philadelphia did so at crucial times so they kind of defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the final quarter versus Denver, set to play overseas this weekend.
But it proved positive to observe that Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to overcome the shortfall before direct three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the game by four points.
The Broncos have the top defender with CB their star corner. They are number one in red zone defence, while Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, and the Broncos won that battle.
They executed the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't always rushing extra pass rushers but they might plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap before drop them out and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
At the start of the season, it was noted during a show that the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They ended last season well then did a good job of building upon that.
Could Denver be this year's dark horses?
New tight end Evan Engram has stepped up big and recent RB their rusher is a player they believe in. He now ranks fifth in the NFL for rushing yards (402) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).
I love that the coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.
That shows how the Broncos are a team aiming to prioritize the run, since one can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while keeps you in positive down and distances.
This has helped QB Bo Nix, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw all over, however they lack the mobility that Nix has. He boasts exceptional arm talent, which is different, plus he's highly agile.
His strengths are his movement, the capacity to pass while moving, as well as finding varied release points to deliver throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to throw that layered pass over the middle and over the corner.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got a lot of composure under pressure and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He tries to evade a sack whenever possible and is able throw in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and is very decisive.
When you consistently run the ball it consumes the clock and makes the opponent to stay on the field for longer, and if you've got a mobile QB the defence has to defend the field vertically and horizontally. It can be exhausting.
Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and I think Payton appreciates that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for the coach to have a young quarterback that is similar to moldable clay. He can really build something up the way he desires to build it. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.
Payton owns a Super Bowl and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. I think the achievements Denver are having on offence is mostly due to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB helps shape him what he is.
There's no better a better guy guiding you, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and build confidence.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team good enough to face an elite team at full strength? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.
Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're working above average, which is a solid position to hold the AFC West. All they need to do is maintain this path.
They excel at embracing their strength, which is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do against the New York Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team yet to win any game.
Ever since the league started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway in five outings, this is surprising considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs are off to a poor start following a recent loss by the Jaguars.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the West.
It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they face because Denver {beat|def
